Ask management before choosing a time
Confirm service-elevator reservations, move hours, loading-zone rules, certificates or vendor requirements, and whether protective pads are supplied by the building.
Measure the route, not only the item
Check the unit doorway, tight corridor turns, elevator opening, and building exit. Note removable furniture legs, but do not dismantle anything unsafe.
Decide who can authorize access
Arrange keys, fobs, elevator controls, and loading-area entry. The person on site should know exactly what goes and be able to approve the final scope.
Keep corridors and exits clear
Stage small items inside the unit unless management gives other instructions. Do not block a shared hallway, stair, or fire exit.
Compare the municipal option honestly
Seattle Public Utilities says bulky pickup at multifamily buildings must be requested through the property manager. A private removal service may fit when items must be carried from inside, timing is limited, or several item types need one coordinated visit.
Your next step
Use the checklist to build a clear request, then compare the municipal option with a private pickup based on access, timing, and item count. For service help, review apartment junk removal or prepare an estimate request.
